6 Useful Resources for Caregivers
We know there’s a lot of overwhelming decisions involved with caring for an aging parent or an older loved one. That’s why the Providence Solutions website is full of articles, videos, and free downloads to help make sense of some of the confusion.
New resources are added every week! Here’s some of our current favorites:
Health Info Kit: If you’re late for a doctor appointment (or if you’re dealing with an emergency), you don’t want to be searching all over the house for health information, insurance details, and lists of prescriptions. With this guide and a little work ahead of time, you can have all that information at your fingertips, ready to grab on your way out the door.
Hiring In-Home Help: Retirement communities are not the only option for older adults who need help with the activities of daily living. Many people hire a private duty caregiver for a few hours at a time who can take care of light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, and errand-running. This guide helps you make sense of your options, and important details to be aware of when researching your caregiving options.
Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Care Seminar (March 13): This seminar is for front-line staff and health care professionals who wish to apply to become a Certified Dementia Practitioner with the National Council for Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). After completing the class, you’ll receive 7 Continuing Education Units and a certificate of completion.
Ask An Expert (March 27): Join us for dinner as we hear from local experts in the world of aging. This free event is open to the public and will feature a panel discussion and Q&A session with experts from the fields of care management, elder law, and finance.
Terri Talks Video Series: Hosted by Terri Maxeiner, Vice President of Providence Solutions, these short, weekly videos cover a wide range of topics relating to elder care. Terri is an expert in the geriatric nursing field for over 35 years, a Certified Elder Care Manager, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer. Check out Terri’s videos on YouTube and Facebook!
Aging Navigation Counselors: You’ve started to notice that your parent needs help at home, or they’re forgetting things more often. You know it’s time to start doing research on senior services, but you don’t know where to start. Or maybe it’s a more emergent situation – your sister is being discharged from the hospital tomorrow, but she can’t live alone. What do you do? Who do you call?
Our helpful, expert consulting team at Providence Solutions is here to answer your questions and connect you with the tools and resources you need to make the best decision for your loved one. Send us an email at email@example.com, or better yet, give us a call at (708) 342-8090.
